A Fond Farewell from Jillian Ellis

To My Dear Friends,

It’s been a wild 5 and a half years and it has gone by so fast.  I still remember getting the call to come interview here at VTI.  At the time I had been looking desperately for a job and was working at a gas station/dinner wondering when my life was going to start, talk about fate!!

Looking back I feel like I was a little caterpillar egg that finally hatched when I came here.  I started exploring who I was and what I was capable of and I got to eat some of the best leaves ever.  Leaves that were good friends, good talks, great co-workers, and invaluable information.  At this stage I think I’ve moved on to being a very content little caterpillar.  I know my routines, I feel comfortable, and I know a lot more about who I am and what I want to do, but unfortunately as we all know change is how we grow, or in my case how I’ll become my own butterfly.

On Sunday I will be driving to my new home in Pennsylvania where I’ll spend some quality time with my family who I love and have missed so much.  I’m going to start a new job, keep pursuing my Master’s Degree, and make lots of new friends.  I’m a little scared of all this change but I know that this is exactly what I need at this point in my life and that I’m going to be a stronger person for it.

Each and every one of you have touched my life in some way over the years and I wanted to thank you.  You’ve made my job here a pleasure and I feel that you’re not so much my clients as friends, which is why I would really like to stay in touch and continue to hear about your successes and setbacks, hear about your families, and all the other “good stuff” that life brings.

Since I don’t have Facebook (and will never get one, sorry everyone), I have decided to start a blog.  I’m going to be honest and say this will in no way be an educational blog…if anything it will be more of a comedic collection of things that are going on with me- most likely including things I learn about Amish people because I’ll be living close by and those people are awesome.  They make their own brooms people….brooms.

My blog will be private so if you would like to follow me please send an email to me at jillianrish@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to send you an invitation, likewise if you’d just like to pop me an email at any time feel free…my inbox is always open!

Thank you again for making my job so rewarding, you are all very very special people and I wish you the best of luck in your trading, life and love.

Namaste my friends,
Jillian Ellis

PS- Below are a few pictures from my going away party that everyone here threw me.  It was the best party I’ve ever had and we all had a great time, enjoy!

Here we all are at Maximillian’s Pizza Kitchen…do you SEE all my presents?!

Me after opening my Awesome Dia de los meurtos coaster

I have ALWAYS wanted a Benjamin Franklin shirt…let’s face it he was the hottest founding father…

For those of you who don’t know my life long ambition (and by life-long I mean like the last 3 years) has been to go to Costa Rico and work at the sloth sanctuary, who needs that now?  I have my own baby sloth to high-five whenever I want!

Frank has been instrumental to my adult education.  He has taught me to flick pennies, how to make a coke bottle explode by putting mentos in it, how to make a really good paper airplane, and of course how to pull off the perfect fist bump.  You’re my hero Frank.

Here’s me and Revathi!  One of the biggest things I’m going to miss about working here is her cooking…I’ll be dreaming of your rice Revathi!

Me and new me!

Did I say new me?  I meant mini me!  I look like Godzilla standing next to her!

RJ picked out a hubcap for my car…, thanks RJ!

I will be honest and tell you we did not actually drink those bottles by ourselves, but we did enjoy what we had!

A hug with my favorite artist

Me and Van feeling our feelings (haha), do you think I could get workman’s comp for this??

Me and Van getting one more quality hug in before I go.

I always wanted to be a bunny…that woman can read my mind!

Help!  We’re stuck in a balloon jungle and we can’t get out!

Ah well, at least Kala brought more wine…
